Dad was feeling a little better this morning, but not so good to drive the RV home. So, Chuck and I took turns, which was quite an experience to say the least. We had a near accident while I was driving, and when it was Chuck’s turn, he nearly took the siding off the RV with the siderail. Dad took it the rest of the way home (trust issues?), and we all made it back in one piece.

So, 6 days of golf turned into 4 days of golf + emergency room + a full day if sitting in the RV … but hey, it was fun, and really nice for us to have a chance to get together.

Well, apparently dad is a man of routine. Since he didn’t have his pills where he normally puts them at home, he forgot to take three of his pills … for three straight days. He started feeling bad around 5pm yesterday, and even warned us that he was feeling sick, getting the bad shakes … but wanted us to give him some time to see if it went away. When I suggested the hospital, and he said maybe … that’s a ‘yes’ in my book. I introduced myself to a neighboring RV, and told them what’s up, asking if I could call their cell phone to update Chuck (who was staying here … small truck). The lady was actually nice enough to give Chuck her phone until morning.

The Baton Rogue General Hospital was about 25 minutes away. We got there around 9:50pm. Dad finally got to see a doctor at 2:30am. He had the beginnings of a urinary tract infection … and we caught it early. They gave him some antibiotics, and we got back around 4:30am or so. Hopefully, he’ll feel better by the end of today.

If not, Chuck and I are driving the big rig, baby!

We drove from Marksville this morning to Lafayette, which was about an 80-mile drive. We played at The Wetlands (and it was). As Pooh would say, it was a blustery day today. The winds were blowing at around 30-40 mph, which makes it sorta tough to judge how far to hit a golf ball, to say the least. Dad had the hit of the day, knocking in a 125 yard shot right in the hole … an eagle! Hi-fives all around for that one.

Then we drove east to just outside of Baton Rogue, where we parked and hooked up the RV. Dad and Chuck just took a drive out to check out the golf course we play in the morning. Hot dogs and baked beans are the entree tonight … and then it’s a DVD movie. We’re living the high life out here in the hick woods!

Golf has been a rollercoaster. I sucked today, but there’s always tomorrow. Had steaks for dinner on a mini grill that Dad and Chuck put together (took them about an hour). Chuck disappeared for about two hours tonight at the casino. We figured he either hit it big, or got arrested. He ended up playing nickel slots until he lost his $10.

It’s been raining since about 3pm … and we’re hoping it’s not still raining in the morning. It’ll stink to have to stand out in that as we go outside to close up the RV. We’ll leave early for Lafayette for our 80 mile (or so) drive.

Well, we made it. We got to the campgrounds at around 6pm, and dad got the RV all balanced and ready for the night. All three of us hopped in the (very tiny) pickup and drove a mile or two to the golf course, so we could see where we’ll be playing tomorrow. Dad wasn’t too thrilled that there was sand all over the greens (that time of the year, I guess) … but we’ll make do. Tried getting the Dish Network to work for us, but we think there’s just too many trees around. Don’t get me started about Dish Network … Anyway, we just now made hamburgers and French fries, and have opened up all the windows (excellent breeze). Here are a few photos, and we’ll try to do this each night.
